Everyone knows Abe. A successful restaurant owner who truly built his business from the ground up, Abe Moussa started as a dishwasher in a local restaurant (Sweetwater’s on Gulf to Bay) and worked his way to upper management. Having sold that restaurant, Abe opened what is today known as Abe’s Grill & Bar. Abe’s Grill is renowned for fresh, homemade ingredients, friendly service, over-sized entrees, daily specials, excellent beverage choices, nightly karaoke and an atmosphere where everyone feels at home. Everything at Abe’s is homemade. From salad dressings and award- winning wing sauces to fresh never-frozen gourmet burgers, Abe’s take pride is ensuring that your dining experience is a cut above other restaurants. Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, Abe’s features a full-service bar with a wide selection of cocktails and major domestic, imported, and specialty beers. Abe strives to create quality and memorable experiences for every guest. This beautiful park has two distinct areas—a beach and a park. In the park proper are two picnic shelters with grills, a playground, restroom and a dog park. Grills, picnic tables, and water fountains are but a few amenities.   A salt marsh with viewing benches further enhances the park, where heron, roseate spoonbill, great horned owl, anhinga, and common moorhen nest and feed.   Sand Key Park houses the base of operations for the artificial reef program, an interdepartmental cooperation program to build a reef in the Gulf. Sand Key Park’s natural communities include a beach where sea turtles annually deposit eggs. The nearby Clearwater Aquariumtakes responsibility for these nests and keeps statistics.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium

Clearwater Marine Aquarium

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a non-profit organization in Clearwater, Florida, United States. It is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured marine animals, public education, and animal-assisted therapy and research. Clearwater Marine Aquarium opened in 1972 at its current location on Clearwater Beach, a former water treatment plant (the large tanks being well-suited for rehabilitation operations). Numerous forms of marine life reside at the aquarium, some temporarily until they can be released, while others have serious injuries which do not permit their return to the wild, and thus become permanent residents. The aquarium's best-known permanent resident, and the focus of its marketing campaigns, is Winter, a bottlenose dolphin who was rescued in December 2005 after having her tail caught in a crab trap. Her injuries caused the loss of her tail, and the aquarium fitted her with a prosthetic tail which brought worldwide attention to the facility. Winter later starred in the 2011 film, Dolphin Tale, and an upcoming 2014 sequel, Dolphin Tale 2, shot partially on location at the aquarium.
